Very elegant "Round Body" Bergstutzen, for Anton Sodia a rather unusually designed collector's item, but due to the well thought-out caliber combination also excellent to use for forest hunting and close season.
The name Sodia is one of the traditional ones in Austrian gunsmithing history. In 1870 Anton Sodia founded a business in Unterferlach. One of his sons, Franz I, finally moved to Ferlach in 1910 to set up a gunsmith's workshop there. From the manufacture and further processing of semi-finished products to a small factory, he also manufactured hunting rifles there from 1929 together with his son Franz II. Franz II finally took over the company in 1935 after the death of his father. The history of the company is marked by change. At its peak, the company employed over 100 people and produced large quantities in its own factory. In the 60's and 70's the company expanded its branch network. The three locations were finally divided up in 1973 between the sons Werner (Salzburg), Klaus (St. Pölten) and Franz III (Ferlach). The size of the factory eventually took its toll - so the doors in Ferlach closed in the 80s. Today, Werner and Reinhold Sodia continue to operate the branches in Salzburg and Vienna, which focus on trade and services.
