Hammer-quad o/u s/s shotgun Verney-Carron - St. Etienne cal. 28 #ohne Nummer § C

Starting price 14.000 EUR
not sold

Barrel length 70 cm (27,5"), stock length 36 cm (14"), overall length 110 cm (43,25), choke full (F), weight 3,9 kg, year of manufacture not evident, French proof, condition 3
Concave rib, brass front sight, quadruple extractor, single trigger with filed blade, external hammer with automatic counter-clockwise rotating plate with striker to fire one barrel at a time, operation is similar to a revolver in single action or double action possible, color case hardened round-body bascule, straight walnut stock with inserted cloverleaf shaped iron plate in the end of the stock, two counter-rotating lower levers to break and disassemble the shotgun. Small longitudinal crack in the case on the left, bluing partially rubbed, left upper barrel with small dent, in the grip area color hardening is already faded and there are traces of hand sweat visible.
Due to the high quality workmanship probably a technology carrier or a test model for the unusual ignition mechanism, which was also definitely used for shooting tests. Pre-cocking the hammer reduces trigger weight and travel to a moderate level, in double action mode without pre-cocking, accurate firing is probably only achievable with great practice. An absolute treat for collectors of exceptional firearms!
Verney-Carron was founded back in 1820 in St. Etienne and has been family owned ever since. For over 200 years, the goal of this traditional company has been to support hunters and hunters in the best possible way and to give them not only a tool, but a piece of (engineering) art, built with the pursuit of excellence in hand.
