Typical "Bundesheer"-P38 (Federal Austrian Army) , code "svw 45" on lhs of slide, property mark "eagle beside BH" on lhs of trigger guard, German acceptance "eagle above WaA 135" and French acceptance star on rhs of slide. Made in the Mauserwerk under French occupation right after WWII 1945/46. After the use in the French army these handguns were given in 1955 to Austria for the re-establishment of the Austrian Army. Our specimen has a rough wartime finish, the finish is partly worn off. The grip panels are of black plastic. Very good bore, comes with extra magazine. New proof 1985 on occasion of the surplus sale. Interesting item for Walther or Austrian ordnance collectors. See MÖTZ/SCHUY, Weiterentwicklung I, pp 401. Condition III.
